Ork Stormboyz

I went by TBS Comics in Fort Walton and purchased a set of Stormboyz today to add to my Warhammer 40K collection. I’ll update this post when I start building and painting them.

I have two sets that need to be put together. The below picture is the first set of five that are assembled and are ready for priming.

I haven’t glued the goblin on yet because I want to paint the mini first. I was thinking of adding a magnet to connect the two, but I haven’t decided on what I really want to do with him. The fact that he has his on rocket would make it fun to make it removable.

Ork Killa Kans

Purchased a box of Ork Killa Kans today from TBS Comics in Fort Walton. I haven’t started building these yet, but I’ll come update this post with more pictures when I do.

Paint Rack

I was looking for a way to keep my paints/brushes organized when I sit at the breakfast nook table to paint. Something that I can just pick up and move without going through too much trouble. I found some awesome organizers at Miniature Scenery. They seemed a little steep for a beginning painter, so I decided to old off the purchase for now. I have some extra wood lying around the garage and decided to make a generic holder my self. It’s still a WIP, but it’s taking shape. Below is a picture of the rack and the mess I made with the drill press. More to come…

Mantic Skeleton

I received my first sprue of Mantic skeletons with Assembly Kit. The skeletons are very detailed and look great. They were easy to cut out and glue together and the sprue came with extra parts to allow for more than enough configurations. I ended up ordering a Undead Skeleton Command Sprue, Skeleton Troop Sprue, and a Undead Balefire Catapult to add to the intial 10. Not to mention a lot of Orcs, Zombies, and Ghouls that were also ordered and my hundreds of Warhammer minis.

I tried both white and black for the base coat (primer) to see which one gave the best end result. Black ended up giving more detail when painted with layers and washed. The white seemed to need more touching up after layers/washes. Obviously more painting = more time and with 80+ Mantic minis to paint, I can’t waste too much time one any one mini.

Below are a couple that are in the process of being painted…

I have hoards of Mantic minis that have been put together and most of them still need priming. I’m still working out how I’m going to go about painting them in bulk. I’ve been debating on painting these in detail or just making them look good for table top games. I’ve also been thinking of using them as test figures before I start painting the more expensive GW minis that are starting to pile up in my mini stockpile.

Spring Hard Cider

Spring by Woodchuck

I have to say that I really enjoyed this spring cider from Woodchuck. The taste and aroma are both outstanding without being overpowered. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a nice cider. You can definitely taste the hint of maple and brown sugar.

“Warm days and cold nights will make the sap flow in the woods, but keeping the cider flowing in your fridge is up to you. Start with our spring cider – the taste and aroma of fresh maple syrup and brown sugar will make you think you’re sitting in a warm sugarhouse in the Vermont countryside.” – Woodchuck

“A handcrafted treasure, the ultra-limited edition Private Reserve Belgian White, is crafted with a classic Belgian beer yeast. Cloudy, with a rich, golden hue, it presents a delicate aroma and taste, with coriander and orange notes. It pairs excellently with seafood fare, mixed greens or sharp cheeses. “Bottle and can: Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Pale, chocolate and crystal malts; English Fuggles and Styrian Goldings hops.
Hobgoblin is a powerful full-bodied copper red, well-balanced brew. Strong in roasted malt with a moderate hoppy bitterness and slight fruity character that lasts through to the end.

Water Cavern

So a few ago I decided to try my hand at Hirst Art’s Water Cavern project.

Undead Zombie Regiment

I started getting Mantic minis to fill some gaps where I needed more undead for my D&D settings. They were cheaper than getting D&D minis on ebay and the detail was actually better quality than most of the D&D minis anyway.

..

After receiving my first set of undead (skeletons) from Mantic and seeing the quality, I decided to try out their zombies. I ordered other models such as orcs and ghouls at the same time, but this post covers the zombies only.

The box I received was the traditional plastic case and it contained 30 Plastiic Undead Zombie figures, 3 Mantic Points, and 30 Plastic 20mm bases.
